In collaboration with the Tarsus University Department of Management Information Systems and the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Club, a technical visit to the Mersin Model Factory was organized on April 24, 2024, to raise our students’ awareness of Industry 4.0, digital transformation, and lean manufacturing processes.

The Mersin Model Factory, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Mersin-Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone (MTOSB), Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MTSO), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), offers comprehensive training and consultancy programs aimed especially at enabling SMEs to gain competencies in lean production and digital transformation.

During the technical visit, our students acquired detailed knowledge about lean manufacturing techniques, waste reduction, productivity enhancement, and digitalization applications. They also had the opportunity to examine practical examples within the Model Factory on-site. Additionally, information was provided about the factory’s vision and its contributions to regional businesses.

The visit proved to be productive in helping our students reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practical applications and gain insights in fields that will guide their future careers.
